Carmel Valley, positioned roughly half-way up the San Diego County coastline, is convenient to almost everything. The Solana Beach School District covers the elementary schools in the northern part of Carmel Valley. Currently operating Solana Pacific for 5th & 6th grade only, and Solana Highlands and Carmel Creek Elementary Schools in Carmel Valley (as well as other schools in the surrounding cities), the district has plans to open 2 more elementary schools in the future. The Del Mar School District covers the elementary schools in the southern part of Carmel Valley. This district has 2 elementary schools in Del Mar just west of I-5, and 6 elementary schools in Carmel Valley, including Sage Canyon, Torrey Hills, Ocean Air, Carmel Del Mar, Ashley Falls, and Sycamore Ridge.
The middle school and high schools for Carmel Valley are Carmel Valley Middle School, Canyon Crest Academy and Torrey Pines High School, all operated by the San Dieguito Union High School District.
