AV Ranch, LLC has recently acquired the Rawhide Ranch Kids Camp & Ranch in Bonsall, California for $7 million from SVN Rawhide Ranch LLC, an investor group. The acquisition includes the transfer of the camp business, ranch operations, and land spanning over 37± acres. Rawhide Ranch is known for its equestrian experiences for families and has been operational for almost 60 years. AV Ranch, LLC intends to continue the camp’s legacy and provide unique programming that offers participants an experience like no other.
Rawhide Ranch’s history dates back to 1964 when Clarence and Mary Jean Chown purchased an abandoned hog ranch and transformed it into a summer camp. The camp started small with about 15 boys and girls, but it quickly gained popularity, becoming renowned as the premiere horse camp of the West. Rawhide Ranch has produced numerous world champion horsemen and women, as well as stock. Over the years, Rawhide Ranch has had many faces, from running a small elementary school to hosting rodeos for the locals to participate in. In 2000, the camp was sold to SVN Rawhide Ranch LLC, who narrowed the facility focus to youth programming with summer and winter camps, as well as serving school groups and youth organizations throughout the year. Rawhide Ranch will always be a home away from home and an opportunity to change lives in powerful and positive ways. The heart of Rawhide Ranch lives on, and we should continue to grow its rich history for future generations to come.
